I find it easier to deal with people when they don’t know me. There’s a certain level of trust that is afforded to people when they first meet each other. I feel more comfortable interacting with others under those circumstances. Mostly because I tend to be misunderstood. There’s no history; meeting new people allows for both parties to have a clean slate.

When I left my first job, I was told by my boss, in so many words, not to expect to come back. It wasn’t that we had a huge falling out. I think she was just upset that I figured out that I was being underpaid for the work I was doing there and I wasn’t quiet about it. I think she thought I was going to file a lawsuit.

I was an intern there and then worked as an employee for a few years. But despite me being an employee, it was hard for people to see me as anything but an over-eager intern. Between that, and my position being temporary, I knew it was time for me to move on. And I did.

My new job was great! But I was concerned that I wouldn’t get a promotion that year and I really wanted to get back into map making again so I started to look for a new position. And to my surprise, my old place of employment had an advertisement for a dream
